Improving quality control: the big challenge for the food industry in 2022
The food industry still faces a major challenge: improving quality control to ensure food safety and reduce fraud.
Traditional quality control systems are in many cases obsolete, only allow random sample control or rely on external laboratories, which is expensive and time consuming. But technology offers novel solutions to implement food quality control in a more efficient and affordable way. Many companies are willing to improve, but still don’t know about these solutions.
That’s why we at Chemometric Brain decided to start the year asking our followers on Linkedin what aspects of food quality control they would improve in 2022.
And here are the answers: 48% of respondents believe that new technologies need to be adopted to improve quality control; and 22% indicate that controlling all batches should be a priority. Both answers are closely related and prove that there is still room for improvement to ensure quality and food safety in supply chains.
Some companies are clear about this because they have already experienced problems with their suppliers or even had to recall products due to failures in the production process; others continue to spend thousands of euros each year on external laboratories and seek to implement in-house quality control.
At Chemometric Brain we strive to foster digitization of food quality control because we know from our experience of more than 10 years in the food industry that only by digitizing supply chains can we ensure food safety and prevent food fraud.
NIR technology, on which Chemometric Brain’s software is based, allows a more exhaustive, faster and cheaper control, without need for great investments or specialized personnel. But beware, not all NIR software are easy to use or compatible with any equipment. Chemometric Brain is so, and it hosts data on a cloud-based platform, allowing companies to consolidate results from multiple devices and locations in one single place, accessible anytime anywhere.
And most important, without need for specialized personnel: with a simple training, any technician in the company will be able to perform the analysis and interpret the results.
Thus, the challenge of improving quality control in 2022 is closer than ever before for many food companies. Shall we talk?
