From Theory to Practice: Bringing Science to Real Life
Sara, why do you like what you do so much?
This is the question that many of my friends and people closest to me ask me when we talk about work. For those of you who don't know me, I have a background in Chemistry and a PhD in Chemistry-Physics, and I would like to tell you that during all the time I was carrying out my research work at university, I always had the feeling of carrying out tremendously complex fundamental studies whose necessity is beyond debate, because for me, the research work carried out by universities and technology centres is without a doubt, and regardless of the application, the only way to advance and discover new systems and methodologies for the prosperity of the world and humans.
However, I have to say that I always had a thorn in my side, and every day I asked myself, how could I make my research work more applicable to real life and improve the world we live in?
One of the main problems is the scalability of the projects being worked on at a fundamental level and their applicability to the real world. This is probably because, at a global level, one of the weak points or pending accounts is still to help and facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technological results from universities and research centres to companies and therefore to real life.
There are many articles based on NIR technology and many brilliant researchers working on fundamental studies and gathering information and knowledge on different food matrices. But there are very few who manage to make all this work and applications visible and implement them in the industry.
How can we ensure that this work, which has been carried out with so much effort, enthusiasm and dedication, in addition to becoming a scientific publication, can also be used to solve day-to-day problems and difficulties in companies?
Chemometric Brain!
Chemometric Brain is a project in which we have built a software interface in the cloud designed by and for the food industry, compatible with any NIR machine or hardware on the market and applicable to any type of food regardless of its format or application. Through NIR technology we offer developments and models applying statistics and artificial intelligence from which customers can implement rapid screening tools in their quality control system. This allows them to analyse all product batches, whether raw material or final product, and to ensure traceability at every point in the supply chain. In addition, to execute immediate corrective actions in the production process and to manufacture under replicable and perfectly defined quality standards. In this way, we contribute to avoiding claims from customers to companies that, without a quality control system such as this one, could result in large financial losses for them.
If you are a researcher and have been wondering how to take your work beyond scientific publications to directly impact industry, it's time to take the next step! Knowledge transfer is key to turn scientific advances into real solutions that improve processes and products.
If you want to explore how your research can be transformed into a tangible and scalable solution, let's talk. Together we can bring science to market and generate real impact - contact us and let's take the next step together!
