Chemometric Brain’s software operates with any NIR equipment: how to choose the right one for your business’ needs
Chemometric Brain’s software can be easily implemented in any food company. The first step is to select the most suitable NIR device for the customer. If the customer does not have a NIR device yet, Chemometric Brain technicians will analyse the customer’s needs and opportunities to enhance quality control and advise on the type of device to choose.
Chemometric Brain has a series of validated devices that are used for demonstrations to customers and to carry out tests to confirm which is the most suitable. In many cases, a portable unit may be enough to meet the company’s needs, without having to purchase a desktop device, with the full near-infrared spectrum, which can be much more expensive.
There are different types of devices on the market that basically differ in the wavelength range in which they work, and the technology used. The equipment provides a spectrum, that is, the absorbance values for each wavelength at which it measures. If the device can measure in the entire near-infrared range, we will obtain as much information as possible. However, if it only measures in one part of the near infrared, we must check whether the information we need is in that part and whether it has enough resolution to be extracted.
Chemometric Brain’s NIR-based software differs from others of its kind because it can store spectra from different devices and consolidate them in a single place, in the cloud, transferring them into a common language. This can benefit all food companies because calibrations are not conditioned by having a specific device. This way, all the spectra and reference values of the analysed samples can be brought together to make global calibrations that are more
robust. In short, our software optimises the advantages of NIR technology for quality control, making faster, simpler and cheaper analyses possible.
